Look of The Day at IamMEG.ph

When I wake up in the morning - err, I mean afternoon; I usually stay on my bed and grab my iTouch to check notifications on my Facebook/Twitter. Imagine the thrill that went through me when I saw a message from Ms. Wyatt Ong saying that I was the Look of The Day at IamMEG.ph! It was like I drank a cup of black coffee. I was up in no time!

These photos were taken at the Forever 21 opening at Mall of Asia last Friday. I was actually one of the 10 winners of the Forever 21 x Meg contest. You can read about the winners and the opening in this article. I promise to blog about that and the opening soon!

It hasn’t been very long since I started reading her blog, it was through another blog that I followed where I found her. Of course, with nothing to do all day, I went ahead and started reading.

The first thing that you’d actually notice is how creative she is. You’d see it in her intelligent use of art in her widgets. Every time that I’d click something on her navigations, I go “oooooohhh!” and “aaaaaaaaahhh!”, I really envy this girl’s talent in tweaking stuff and manipulating photos!

As I read through her posts, I actually get more and more interested because we actually share the same, well, interests! She’s mentioned that she prefers white chocolate over milk chocolate and doesn’t like peanut butter, she loves sweets and she shares a lot of stories of her and her boyfriend (my favorite part of her blog, since, if you follow my blog, you’d know that I love sharing stories between me and the boyf, too!). 

Other than her outfit posts, parts of her blog that I love so much are her photos of food and travelling, also, I love reading through her stories about school and daily experiences that show how intelligent this stylish nursing student from UST is. There is never a dull moment (or post) in her blog.

Oh, and btw, she owns an awesome online shop, Claire Voix that sells pretty accessories, you guys should check it out.

An Interview With Adly:

Who is Adly and where can we find her?

  —I go by the name Adly all the time. I figure my full name sounds too complex and people just don’t get it right on the first, second and sometimes even third try. You can find me most of the time online: on Facebook playing Sims Social, on Twitter (/adlyvelasco), on Tumblr liking almost every single post and on Lookbook (/adlyvelasco) for when I actually get to take photos of my outfit. Reality-wise, I am mostly at school studying my ass off. When I’m not there I’m either at home or somewhere with good food and good company.

What can we expect to see in your blog?

  —You can expect a whole lot of blabbering coupled with relevant photographs in my blog. Whenever the drive kicks in, I post the occasional writings from one-liners to what I hope would be short stories (I have the time now that it’s semestral break!) I also post outfit posts but more often I just post photos of recent purchases.
How is your blog different from other fashion blogs?  —Honestly, I don’t consider my blog a fashion blog because there are loads more of food posts than outfit posts. I prefer to think of it as a jack-of-all-trades sort of thing with a little bit of everything mixed up in one presentable package. I mean, I have bits of photography, fashion, food, books and even thoughts littering my blog. I think there’s something for everyone in it.


Describe your sense of style:

  —Personally, I think my style is something of balance - not too safe and not too over-the-top. I dress depending on my mood, the weather and the time I’ve got. White collared shirts and denim shorts are my staple pieces. Sometimes I think a simple outfit with some loud accessories does the trick. My love for accessories has even brought about the creation of an online store shared with a good friend named, Claire Voix which you can find on Facebook.

When did your love for fashion start/when did you start dressing up?

  —I started dressing up when I was little, of course but as I grew into the puberty years I shied away from it and stuck to ill-fitting t-shirts and jeans from this one shop. Sleeveless shirts and shorts were no-nos for me then. When that shop closed down that when I started to explore idea of fashion and the confidence gradually built up and now I just can’t imagine shopping in just one store forever!


Where do you usually shop? Can you recommend an online shop for us?

  —Since I was so busy with school, I only bought clothes online and then when I got the chance to go to the mall I always had to buy something because I was feeling so deprived. I like shopping at Trinoma (The Ramp, Zara and Mango) and Galleria (50th avenue.) As for online shops I love Asian Vogue, Clothes for the Goddess and Laces&Bows Shop.

Who are your fashion inspirations?

  —My fashion inspirations are Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, Andy Torres of Style Scrapbook and Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast. Locally, I admire Camille Co and Tricia Gosingtian.

What are other fashion blogs that you follow?

  —Aside from those above, I follow some DIY blogs for inspiration and for future works. 


What are your body insecurities and how do you deal with them?

  —My insecurities would have to be my skin color, height, nose and my muffin top. :)) There are a lot right? But these are things I hope to change but work around as well. I try not to dwell on them as much and just try to enhance what’s best about me.

What can you advice girls who want to express themselves through fashion but are embarrassed to do so?

  —I think you have to keep in mind that by not enhancing what you have you’re only making it harder for you to accept yourself. Embrace your appearance by wearing clothes and shoes that bring out the best in you. 
To sum it up, Adly is a Nursing student, Style guru, Business woman, Girlfriend extraordinaire among other things… Can you spell Superwoman?

Tumblr Tuesday: The Cutie Girl

Today is Tuesday and here’s my entry for Tumblr Tuesday thing!

1. Who is gazillionththoughtbubble?

Adly Velasco, an 18 year old girl who trips over flat surfaces and can’t seem to keep her shoulders back no matter how frequently her mother reminds her. She spends most of her days cooped up in school, trying to sneak naps whenever she can because she stays up late studying or 99.9% of the time, doing nonsensical things. She’s hardly the popular type but she believes that being a wallflower gives her the power of being omniscient though given the choice; she’d trade it for selective mind reading or telekinesis any day.

She is drawn to clothes that are not conducive for the PH’s weather but she buys them anyway which, shows you how much of an impulsive shopper she is. She used to look like Lilo when she was five and she wishes she still does - the same way she wishes that the fat on her belly was still baby fat.

2. What are your interests?

Computers, no doubt about that. I can live on web design, blogging, games and Photoshop before Carpal Tunnel Syndrome cripples me. Fashion because as I said on my blog’s sidebar: “There’s no such things as empty minds and full closets.” Writing as well. Actually, before there was Tumblr or even Facebook, I was always on this website called FictionPress. Photography is one of things I wish to tackle. For now I try to do my best with a digital camera before that faithful day where I get a DSLR. Lastly, there’s music. I don’t know what would I do without my iPod rescuing me from boredom and Taylor Swift taking the words right out of my mouth.
