I realized that I haven’t posted anything with a “love” tag lately. So I’m hitting two birds with one stone in this one. Two of my favorite things together: Joren & food.
My food buddy
We had our finals shoot for the Fashion Institute of the Philippines that day. (If you’re reading this, thanks a lot for the help Jash!) Joren was actually supposed to come with but thought better and decided to skip it knowing that he would just get bored and I would just end up asking him to do stuff. Hahaha.
So he picked me up after instead and took me out to dinner which was a really really good idea since I was starving at that point. BUT there was a waiting list at Wee Nam Kee so we had to wait a little while before we got seated but after that it was a breeze. It didn’t take too long before food was on the table. Yay!

Both sets come with a bowl of rice and soup. I prefer the roasted one to the steamed one just because it has a little more flavor to it.
Asado Pork (220php)
This was really good. I’m a fan of anything with barbecue sauce so I would’ve finished this plate had I not been eating chicken. Hahaha.
Mango Sago (68php)
I was kinda disappointed that the whipped cream fell over the side before it even got to me but on the bright side, it was the last one and I got it! Hahaha. Lucky me! I like this because it wasn’t too sweet and it was really heavy like good for sharing. That’s a good thing since this was one of the few desserts that Joren likes and I rarely have to share dessert with him, not that I want to. Hahaha.
So yeah, I basically went home full from all the food and fulfilled from having finished the shoot. Not to mention really happy!

- Finally saw this guy I haven’t seen in a week. :)
- Zugbu liempo for my second lunch. I was the one who had lunch already but I still cleaned my plate and he didn’t. *shocking*
- Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookie ice cream while watching Argo (ARGO WAS AWESOME! Even though it made me really really really nervous.) We intended to buy this ice cream but didn’t find it so we picked up the oreo one instead then lo and behold - there it was under the oreo one! Lucky!
- And now I have to pack - or not, there’s still tomorrow.
Valentine’s Day.
The little girl whose surprises were always a failure succeeded that day. It took a mad dash to the bookstore, a sudden burst of idea, half an hour of my heart pounding and three minutes of uncontrollable shaking but I pulled it off! It was hasty and doesn’t compare to how important you are to me but nonetheless, your eyes lit up and you hugged me. You were happy and that was all I needed to know.
We Don’t Need Forever, Right Now is Good Enough
They say don’t look back but what better way to greet 2013 than with a post that contains one of my fondest memories of 2012. It also doesn’t hurt to recall happy memories in the situation I’m in right now - don’t ask. Lets just say I’m struggling to keep my optimism and good vibes up in this place.
Anyway, the plan was to wake up early, stand outside his house with my lousy poster, call him, tell him to look out his window and eventually surprise him. But of course like many surprises I’ve cooked up, something went wrong.
My 5-minute poster
Long story (which involves a cab fake “breaking down”) short, I ended up being found out before I could even show him my poster. Fail. -.-” I’m just happy that I still got a surprised reaction when I showed him the poster and told him my original plan.
Thenhe told me to put my stuff in the trunk which, I really should have been suspicious about since I only had my handbag with me. When I opened the hood I found this…
I felt so gullible but then again, I often do. Haha. What else is new? I found it so touching since I wasn’t expecting anything. We just agreed to eat out and that was it. In the three years we’ve know each other, I should really get used to Joren’s antics but I think I’ll never get over how thoughtful he is.
Afterwards we had lunch at Pancake House, Trinoma. Yay for a food post! :D
Beef Tapa - 240php
I have a thing for tapsilog/beef tapa with egg but my number one requirement is a good egg - a nice liquid-y one. This one had a good one and the tapa was savory sweet. Just the way I like it.
Spicy Chicken Fillet with Brown Rice Pilaf - 250 (I think, haha.)
This was Joren’s but I took a bite of it anyway. XD At first I thought it was fish fillet because it was so soft and tender. Plus the garlic mayo was so good too. Not a fan of brown rice but this was much softer in texture than other varieties I’ve tasted.
Peach Waffle - 180php
Since I’ve never had one of pancake house’s waffles we decided to try them. It was very good and sweet. I like the crunchy soft texture of the waffle.
That night we headed to Ninyo Fusion Cuisine for dinner. On special occasions we like to call ahead of time and make reservations. I suggest that you do the same when you’re dining out as a couple because I was truly floored when I saw this table.
